“For me, flax is a plant that’s artistically compelling because there are so many effective doors into an investigation of the material.”

We are delighted to welcome back Pamela Wilson for 2026 artist in residence for the East Barnard Linen Fair.

Pamela Wilson is a studio artist, ceramicist and weaver, working out of a community art center in Barre City’s historic downtown.

Her three workshops in July 14, 15th and 18th will explore the pairing of flax and indigo in the indigo fructose vat. Taught from our store in South Royalton, Vermont, artists will learn how to integrate indigo into their own fiber practice and create work for a group art show hosted by Green Mountain Linen in 2026. We’ll explore multiple ways of working with indigo on linen fabric, yarn and paper, as well as growing indigo for the creation of uniquely place-based artworks.

Application Process click here: Please complete the application below by June 3rd.

If preferred, a digital copy can be requested, completed and returned by emailing admin@greenmountainlinen.com.

Applicants will be notified via email by June 14th with a decision.

Pamela is in her fifth year of flax spinning and third year of growing flax at a local community garden. She has documented this patch and its processing online through writing, photography and video and acts as a springboard for conversations about community, handwork, flax culture and soil-beneficial perspectives on art-making materials. Pamela’s flax art explores the visual juxtaposition of the fiber, plant and spun yarn, in addition to exploration of flax vessels. City’s historic downtown.
