Janell Wysock is a textile artist, fashion designer, educator and community builder and connector.
She teaches off loom fiber structures such as papermaking, felting and basketry as well as dye work, machine knitting, weaving and print design at Moore College of Art and Design. Diving deep into skills that broaden the vocabulary in fashion with Material Explorations class sh guides the students to investigate modern quilt making techniques, fabric manipulation through stitching and dimensionally heat setting, paired with crochet and embroidery.
She has a studio practice working on various collage and woven art pieces alongside hosting interns from abroad and creating a collaborative workspace for students and other artists. Janell is Director of Education for the PA Flax Project and is creating programming to educate about the importance natural locally produced flax fiber and it’s positive environmental potential. She loves hands-on making and came to the flax workshops with extensive paper-making experience. Her flax art is colorful and layered. She was the first artist to bravely apply paint to her flax artwork.
